Supporting Wellness Naturally: Introducing Lymphatic Massage

Supporting Wellness Naturally: Introducing Lymphatic Massage

At The Remedy Room we’re expanding our holistic offering.

With our treatments, we believe true skin health and wellbeing come from supporting the body as a whole. Lymphatic massage is another gentle, non-invasive way for us to help clients feel nurtured, restored and reconnected with themselves.

It’s non-invasive therapies that support the body's natural processes, and clients are increasingly moving towards treatments that encourage rest, recovery, balance, mindful beauty and connected wellbeing. Lymphatic massage is a natural ‘next step’ in your holistic journey, as it complements existing skin care regimes and facials, as it aligns with supporting the body holistically rather than with aggressive interventions.

The lymphatic system is part of the body's natural drainage and immune-support systems. Lymphatic massage is a gentle, rhythmic treatment designed to encourage movement within the lymphatic system, and clients are often surprised by how light and relaxing the treatment feels.

We’re delighted to welcome Alexandria Jenkinson (Massage.by.alexandria) to The Remedy to offer this treatment. Read our interview with her below, and book your Lymphatic massage at The Remedy Room via Fresha.

Why did you choose to train in lymphatic massage?

I chose to train in lymphatic massage as from a young age I was surrounded by women who had them for their general wellbeing. I was so in awe of the lady who used to do them for my mum. She was absolutely amazing and I used to ask her so many questions and was always so intrigued about the treatment as I used to see the wonderful results my mum used to have from them. I wanted to train in it to make people feel exactly the same way and help people with MS & Fibromyalgia as they are extremely helpful to people with these conditions.

What are the known / evidential benefits for the treatment? Can lymphatic massage help counterbalance some pressures of daily life like stress, poor sleep etc?

Lymphatic massage is designed to reduce swelling caused by trapped lymph fluid. It flushes out any toxins through the lymph nodes, and encourages fluid circulation.
They are deeply relaxing, and help with stress reduction as well as supporting your bodies natural immune system. They are the perfect treatment to reset the body and get back into alignment and move any stagnant energy. I have many clients with IBS, arthritis , fibromyalgia, MS and Lymphedema that literally live by this treatment now and couldn’t do without. It really is a beautiful all round treatment to make you feel amazing.

Are there any skin health benefits for lymphatic massage?

Lymphatic does have some skin benefits you come away with that post lymphatic glow, feeling lighter, less puffy, and reducing the appearance of bloating and cellulite. A lymphatic facial you also come away with that post lymphatic glow with a snatched de-puffed face and no more tension in your jaw area.

Why do you think treatments like lymphatic massage are resonating with people right now?

I think lymphatic massages are resonating with people more now as people are becoming more aware of looking after their bodies, and doing things that are good for their wellbeing, which I am so here for. It’s so important to pay attention to your nervous system and give yourself time to fill up your cup however that may look for you. Keep at it. Your body will thank you for it.

What do we need to know by way of the experience itself, any side effects, and what to expect?

Lymphatic is a beautiful experience - expect to be blown away by the feeling and how it connects with your body to put you into deep relaxation. Lots of my clients say they feel like they are floating after their treatments. Some things that can occur after treatment is going to the toilet more frequently. This is totally normal and a very good sign as you're getting rid of all the toxins. Being more thirsty than normal so keep yourself fully hydrated to help clear toxins through the body. Sometimes clients can feel a little emotional or vulnerable the next day again this is totally normal feel the feelings and let them pass. Generally by day 3 after your lymphatic massage you have an influx of new light fresh energy and you feel amazing for it.

How often do you recommend the massage and why? And how can it be incorporated into our routines alongside skincare, movement or relaxation and to our overall approach to wellbeing?

I say have your first 3 lymphatic massages around 2/3 weeks apart. So your body can start to get used to the process of having them and start to really get in tune with itself. Once you’ve had these your body will tell you when you need them as you will start to be aware of the signs and feelings of needing another one. Your body knows the score.
