Stress has become one of the most common experiences in modern life. While we’re not stress experts or medical professionals, we do understand the pressures of day-to-day living.
At The Remedy, our approach to wellbeing is rooted in living slowly, mindfully, and intentionally, towards ourselves and the planet. And that philosophy becomes especially meaningful when we look at stress: what contributes to it, and how lifestyle rituals can help us soften its impact.
Here we want to share our views on stress, our own lifestyle habits that may inspire, and we feel our ethos supports a calmer, more grounded way of living.
Let’s talk about stress, baby…
Stress is believed to come from many directions, and while every person’s experience is unique, there are several widely recognised factors believed to contribute.
From busy schedules, competing responsibilities, work pressures, financial concerns, a lack of rest, caring for others, navigating difficult relationships, environmental factors, global news and of course this time of year.
These are just a handful of reasons that people confidently share with us, as to why they feel stressed. And when we feel life is moving too fast, our own nervous systems feels like it’s struggling to keep pace.
It is generally known that lifestyle changes can help bring calm, ease and clarity, we like to call it pressing a little reset button during busy times.
Here at The Remedy, living well doesn’t require dramatic routines or complicated systems. In fact, simple, sustainable habits often have the most meaningful effect.
Here are a few of the approaches we take…
1 - Creating small daily rituals and habits. We enjoy mindful mornings - enjoying our morning drink in a calm and quiet environment, a skincare ritual that encourages a slow start to our day, some stretching and deep breathing, and we love to unwind with a book and a candle.
2 - Prioritising rest and nourishment. Everyone is different, but we notice an impact if we are not getting enough downtime or sleep, and we do try to prioritise eating well.
3 - Spending time in nature is a non-negotiable for us. Where we live in Leigh-on-Sea, we are so lucky to have lots on our doorstep to enjoy. From a walk in the woods, along the estuary, or through our local parks. We love a bit of fresh air and green spaces.
4 - Decluttering your environment. We’ve mentioned in previous blog posts how much we like to have a quick tidy and a reset of our living space. It just feels like it makes life more manageable, with a sense of calm and order!
5 - Boundaries. This is a really tricky one, because we’re all talking more about protecting our boundaries, but are we actually putting strategies in place? Saying no, spacing out commitments and plans, diarising you time with self care and early nights, limiting screen time etc etc is said to all really help.
6 - Moving. We always feel better after a little walk, or a morning stretch. We can also recommend a kitchen disco. Put some music on and dance like no one is watching!
The Remedy Ethos
At The Remedy, we believe that wellbeing and planetary kindness go hand in hand. When we slow down, choose with intention, and shop mindfully, we’re not just reducing waste, we’re reducing internal pressure. We care about offering a concept that encourages a calmer and more sustainable way of living.
Slow living - in beauty, gifting and daily rituals can encourage a gentler pace. From sitting down with a warm drink, to lighting a candle to enjoy a warming environment with a relaxing scent.
Our handpicked and curated small-batch, nature-led beauty and wellbeing products are created to support moments of pause. Think soothing baths, a mindful cleanse, or a facial massage before bed.
Choosing products from small and local businesses that are planet-kind can give a sense of purpose and alignment, which supports emotional wellbeing.
Stress may be part of modern living, but how we respond to it can be slow, grounding, and intentional. You don’t need to overhaul your lifestyle, but perhaps consider a few switches and rituals that might help. We believe that you deserve to create an environment and skincare regimes that feels good, sustainable and supportive to your needs.
