You don’t need a “new year, new you” to make meaningful change. If something matters, the best time to begin is now.
A new journey isn’t tied to a date on the calendar, so please take this as a reminder that you can begin now, exactly as you are.
Here are five reasons not to wait until a new year to begin your wellness journey…
1. Small changes today create big results later
Wellness isn’t built in huge leaps. It’s built in tiny, consistent actions, that feel sustainable to maintain. Starting now means you’re already ahead.
2. Your body and mind deserve support now, and not “one day”
Energy, mood, sleep, digestion, stress levels… we know that these affect our ‘present’. At The Remedy, we find that when we pay attention to them, it can make our every day feel better, calmer, and more manageable.
3. Momentum grows faster than motivation
Waiting for a date (like “1st January”) puts pressure on our wellbeing shoulders. If for any reason you don’t start on that one date, you might end up feel let down or deflated. Starting small now will help you root daily habits, that will feel natural and effortless before January.
4. Life won’t magically get less busy in January
Here at The Remedy, we encourage a slower pace of living that’s kind to you and our planet. We find it’s better to interweave wellbeing habits into our current schedules and rituals, rather than trying to find more space and time, which isn’t always achievable.
5. Future you will be grateful you didn’t wait
Enter 2026 feeling clearer, calmer, more rested, and more grounded. We can make an effort to not over pack the diary, and to balance with nourishing nights in with loved ones, and with warming cup of cacao.
Rituals & Wellbeing Habits - The Remedy Way
Nothing complicated, just things that soothe your nervous system, restore your energy, and support your emotional and physical wellbeing. Here are some suggestions of rituals and wellbeing habits that we love to incorporate into our lifestyles…
In the mornings, we hydrate with a glass of water before our coffee, our skincare ritual is slow and mindful. Try to get organised before leaving the house, so you can come home to calm.
During the day we’ll try to get at least 10 minutes of sunlight to ‘solar charge’ our mind, body and soul. We’re so lucky where we live in Leigh-on-Sea, as we can enjoy many nature spots like the beach, the woods and many parks, especially on the weekends. We really feel a boost of mood after getting outdoors in nature, and catching a bit of daylight.
Our evenings vary. Sometimes we’ll enjoy a warm bath with the help of products like salts, bath bombs and oils to help us feel calm, relaxed and ready for sleep. We take our time with our skincare (including a facial massage with an oil or gua sha) - it’s a ritual that encourages us to take a needed mindful pause after a busy day, before we light a candle, enjoy a warm cacao drink, and read. Where possible, we’ll reduce screen time and prioritise time with ourselves and our households.
Don’t get us wrong, these rituals don’t stick every day, because life happens. But, we find that when we create a daily habit (i.e. an evening facial oil massage before going to bed) and stick to it, it’s easier to keep going with for the long run.
Whether it’s digital boundaries, getting outside, moving your body, enjoying moments of self care with beauty and skincare products, candles and cacao. Your version of remedy and ritual is unique to you.
How do we make our wellness habits stick?
It’s true when they start to start small, because tiny habits can grow slowly, and organically, and reduce the risk of triggering a resistance. Instead of planning a whole facial routine before bed, start with a good cleanse. Instead of going for an hour’s walk, aim for 10 minutes instead. We find this approach helps us to incorporate it into our lives.
What can you incorporate into your existing routines and rituals?
From doing your skin care after brushing your teeth, to deep breathing while the kettle boils, there could be small changes you can make that don’t require too much thought or time.
Make it enjoyable
Anyone’s wellness journey isn’t supposed to be overwhelming. We find that when we choose rituals that feel good, we feel calmer, nourished and uplifted. Pleasure is sustainable (well, we think so!).
Visual tools and cues help with accountability
Keep that candle by the bath, your journal by the bedside, and your SPF next to your toothbrush. Keeping it in eyesight helps us stay accountable…
