Postcards from Leigh-on-Sea: A Remedy-Inspired Summer Day Out
Hello from the seaside…
As summer arrives, we’re leaning into slow living, nourishing rituals, and mindful moments, the very essence of The Remedy. Whether you're heading off on holiday or carving out pockets of peace at home, this season is about tuning in and taking care.
From our favourite reads to playlists that feel like a deep breath, The Remedy is more than just a shop, it’s a way of life. So, we’ve put together a little travel-inspired lifestyle guide, with our own postcard from Leigh-on-Sea, to bring a little Remedy wherever you are…
Slow Living: The Remedy Way
What we're reading:
Our latest picks are by Slutty Cheff, All The Other Mothers Hate Me by Sarah Harman, and Madame Matisse by Sophie Haydock.
Be sure to swing by our favourite local indie Read on Sea to purchase a book of your choice to enjoy on the beach later, or as a keepsake souvenir to take home.
What we’re listening to:
Our Spotify playlist Country Remedy is our laid-back love letter to the slow, earthy spirit of country music with a modern, soulful twist. Think golden fields, barefoot mornings, and sunshine filtering through the windows. It’s a playlist for slowing down, being present, and enjoying the simple things with tracks to bring a little calm to your day.
What we’re loving:
- Journaling with a view of the Thames Estuary from Marine Parade, especially on early mornings or lazy afternoons. The golden hour sunset from here is also a treat.
- Ocean dips down by Old Leigh and also by Saltwater (with our Gun Ana SPF and a spritz of their protective facial mist of course)
- Slowing down. Breathing deep. Doing less, with more intention.
Our Postcard from Leigh-on-Sea
If you’re visiting the Essex coast or looking for a wholesome day trip from London (just 45 minutes on the train), here’s how we’d spend the perfect day in Leigh-on-Sea...
Dear You,
You hop off the train at Leigh and the air already feels different – salty, fresh, hopeful. You stroll through Old Leigh, past fishing boats and rows of pastel cottages. First glimpse of the sea!
Up the steps by St Clements Church, take a moment at the top. Leigh stretches out before you in rooftops and ocean blues. It’s slower here.
You wander into Read on Sea and pick up something nourishing, the kind of book that holds you gently. Then, coffee and picnic bits from North Coffee House – think: locally roasted beans, fresh pastries, maybe even a little treat for later.
Picnic time. Library Gardens is your secret spot. It’s shaded, breezy, and full of blooms. Maybe you take a moment to read, journal, or to just be. You’re bound to meet a friend squirrel, and enjoy the passing by of a friendly face (and their pet dog).
On your way home, you stop by The Remedy to browse and pick up some summer saviours. It smells like essential oils and possibility. You browse, chat, pick up your favourite SPF and choose a new NINI mini for your holiday skincare bag.
You take a slow walk along the Broadway, towards Marine Parade before heading down back towards Old Leigh, maybe stopping for a fresh seafood platter at Osbournes, watching the glorious golden hour sunset before heading back to the train station.
You leave Leigh-on-Sea salty-haired and soothed. Summer is off to a good start.
Wish you were here?
Love,
The Remedy
